Non Vedo L’ora // I Can’t Wait

Let me begin by explaining why I am starting this blog.

As many of you know, I am spending my summer studying abroad in Verona, Italy.  I have been preparing for this trip since October, so needless to say I am very nervous but, mostly excited.  The purpose of this blog is to excite and educate other students on studying abroad and the opportunities that come with it. I don’t expect everyone to be interested in my blog, but if I can inspire at least one student to make the decision to study abroad then my time here will be worth it.

Traveling and exploring the world is something that I’ve wanted to do since I was eleven years old. I would spend so much time planning trips I thought I would never go on. Wishing someday I would be able to see the places I’ve seen on postcards in real life. I finally decided this would be the year to make my dreams a reality. It was a long 8 months and there were definitely times I didn’t think I would be able to handle the stress of it or even afford it.  However,  hard work really does pay off.  I would not be sitting here in the airport if it weren’t for the countless hours I put into my classes, internship, and weekend job.

Another huge factor in this are the people in my life.  I want to thank my friends and family for supporting me while I prepared for this journey.  Specifically, those who would receive text after text about every little thing that could go wrong, those who proof read my scholarship essays (all 7 of them), those who probably had something better to do than listen to me worry about whether or not I would be the topic of Netflix’s next hit dramatic documentary, etc. etc.  I know it probably wasn’t easy to listen to me stress over every detail of this trip for 8 months, but you guys did and you provided the words of encouragement that I needed to relax and focus on what an amazing adventure this is going to be. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my heart.  You mean the world to me.

I cannoli believe this is going to be one hell of an adventure!

Yes, that’s the first of many Italian themed puns you’ll read this summer.

Ciao,

Meggie
